On 19 June 2023, a book launch event for the updated Polish edition of ‘The Arithmetic of War. WWII Battles in 15 infographics’ was held at the museum’s cinema. The book was published by the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk.
A special guest was the world-renowned scholar World War II, the British historian, Prof. Richard Overy, the book’s reviewer. Prof. Overy gave a lecture, ‘An Inconvenient Guest? The Western Allies and Poland in the Second World War’. Natalia Gawryluk and Karol Szejko, the editors and architects of the book, described the painstaking and complex process behind getting the book ready for publication.
The 133 original infographics, 62 original maps, 316 archival photographs and 40 drawings of weapons, vehicles and aircraft have all been merged to offer readers a gripping, fast-paced narrative of WWII legendary battles. This evocative account of the battles of the Atlantic, Berlin, Midway, Pearl Harbor, and Westerplatte, among other battles, is a must-read for all history enthusiasts and scholars of the war!
