Not long after the defeat of France in 1940, the British face their “darkest hour.” Britain remains the last bastion of freedom, the last European country to face invasion by the Third Reich. Winston Churchill calls his countrymen into action. The British people are determined to resist Hitler. The German Luftwaffe air force, enjoying spectacular successes in the continental Europe, is led by Hermann Göring. Hitler is convinced that the power of the German Air Force will easily force the British to surrender. However, he is completely wrong. The Battle of Britain breaks the backbone of the Luftwaffe and boosts the British morale.
